Flying to Wyoming!!

Earlier in July we went to Wyoming for a family reunion.  We flew out with Aunt Julie and Jon; here are some pictures of our flight out to Denver.  Phineas enjoyed watching everything, and took to calling the trucks on the tarmac "zippers and zoomers."  Most exciting, once in Denver we got to ride a shuttle bus to the rental car agency!

Flying to Oma's House

Our trip to Seattle began in Portland, our departure airport.  Phineas has been on a plane before, but he didn't remember it, so looking at all of the airport activity was great fun.  He especially liked the little tugs that pulled the baggage cars.

 After leaving Portland, our layover was in Detroit.  There he got treated to moving walkways (wow!) and lots of escalators.  There was a really neat tunnel with moving walkways and crazy colors.  The best, though, was the intra-terminal train that we rode on.  Phineas laughed and squealed with delight when we got on; then he watched the train go back and forth while we waited for our plane to board.

And, if you're curious, Phineas flew well.  The best part was taking off (which he also like the last time he flew) and he liked the free cookies they gave out.  He also got to high-five a pilot!

'Twas the night before Christmas...

Here are some pictures of Phineas right before going to bed on Christmas Eve. He has fun looking at the ornaments and flying his airplane ornament. He was also intrigued by the gifts...he'll find out what's inside tomorrow!

Exploring the waterfront

We went down to the wharf at the end of the ferry terminal today. Phin likes to watch the ferries come and go, the ships go by, and the people fishing. Today's highlight was getting to see the fireboat spraying water high into the sky while welcoming a ship returning from the Gulf of Mexico. (And he's starting to realize that the gigantic cruise ship behind him is something much cooler than all the big buildings around!)

Air Show!

We took Phin to an air show at the airport this morning. There were many different new and old planes on display, and we even got to go inside a KC-135 tanker and a WWII era C-47. Phin liked the helicopters best, though. There were two tour helicopters taking off every few minutes, and, best of all, an Army Blackhawk helicopter that Phin got to sit in.

Finn's First Flight!

Finn's first flight, from Portland to Seattle. He did well, and especially liked landing. He laughed and laughed as the plane came to a screeching halt on the runway.
