Here is Phineas enjoying the sunshine and warm weather (finally!) last weekend.

Maine Maple Sunday

This year for Maine Maple Sunday we went to Sparky's Apiaries in Hope. Phineas liked walking up the long, muddy driveway to the sugar house and looking at the tractor. He also quickly spotted the flatbed truck they had with a container of sap on the back waiting to be boiled down into maple syrup. Mom and Dad both enjoyed a sample of vanilla ice cream with maple syrup drizzled on top, but Phineas turned it down and played in the mud instead!

Putting the furniture together

The day after we got home, we put together Phineas's new storage system.  He had fun turning the allen wrench and then, when the whole thing was built, he was climbing all over it!

Gingerbread Men!

Last weekend Phineas and Mom went down to our local bakery to make gingerbread men.  Phineas got to make two cookies, and he had a great time spreading the frosting and then adding all sorts of candy decorations.  He was quite proud of his creations!

The Children's Chapel

We recently went to the Vesper Hill Children's Chapel in Rockport, which is an outdoor chapel with gardens and a nice view of the ocean that is open for the public to enjoy.  Phineas had fun exploring the chapel and various paths that led to it, and we'll be sure to return next spring when the warm weather returns!

Heading to Preschool

Here's a picture of Phineas one morning as he's about to hop in the car and head to preschool for the day!

Rachael's Wedding

We went to Rachael Bridges wedding in early September.  Phineas had fun playing the games they had and dancing to all of the music!

Beech Hill Preserve

We walked up Beech Hill Preserve for the first time this summer.  It was a nice easy walk to the stone hut at the top.  It was a great day with beautiful views of the bay in front of us.

Baguette!

Mom and Phineas went to the bakery and got a baguette for dinner last week.  Except that when they got home Phineas snatched it, snuck off, and ate almost half of it!  But luckily we still had enough for dinner.

Lobster Boat Races

The lobster boat races were in town last weekend so we went out to the breakwater to watch the show.  We walked all the way out on the breakwater to the lighthouse and checked that out.  Then we watched the various races, which consisted of three or four lobster boats lining up next to the breakwater and then racing along it.  There were lots of people watching from the breakwater and in boats, and Phineas like checking out the different boats floating around.

Waiting for Dad to Come Home

Every week day around 5 o'clock, Phin and June like to look out the window and watch for Dad to come home. Here is a picture of them doing so, competing with each other for window space.

Splish Splash!

With all the recent snowmelt we've had puddles appearing everywhere.  And what does PFB do with a puddle?  Splash around in it!  Here he is getting soaked and having a great time doing it.

Getting ready for work

Every morning dad gets ready for work by putting on a suit and tie.  Usually Phineas helps select the tie (or a back-up tie if dad has already picked one out!).  This morning he was extra excited about work and wanted to get read to go to his pretend work.  So he put on a shirt and one of dad's ties and presto...

Woodland Park Zoo

We visited Seattle's zoo one afternoon.  There were lots of animals there, from elephants to birds to a farm animal petting zoo.
Watching the hippo, who only poked his nose out of the water.

Watching the elephant.  At another place, we watched an elephant use his trunk to get hay out of a high bucket.  Watching the elephant reach his trunk up really high, wiggle it inside the bucket, and then put the hay in his mouth was Phin's favorite part of our visit.

The orangutans were being fed dinner when we watched.  They were really active and swinging close to the windows.

Meerkats!  They stood so still they could have been mistaken for statues.

Outside the meerkat house was a little boy sized burrow.  Phin had fun running through it and exploring the fossils embedded within it.
