Happy Halloween!

This year's jack-o-lantern pays homage to Phineas' current obsession: balls. He really likes playing with his toy balls, basketballs, and playground balls. And he runs around pointing at anything resembling a ball and says "ba ba!" Including pumpkins, even though he knows what a pumpkin is.

update: when Phin saw this post he said...wait for it...."ba ba!" as he pointed at the pumpkins.

Morning play

Here's Phin playing in the clothes basket. He spent a long time in it this morning, playing with trucks and blocks and clothes.

Can't Wait for Dinner

Phineas couldn't wait for his favorite dinner last night - macaroni and cheese. He was excited to spot it cooking in the oven and, don't worry, the oven door doesn't get hot.

Phin's Book Game

Phineas plays a game with his picture books. He finds an object in the book and then, excitedly, runs and locates it in our house. Here he is finding his high chair and our pumpkins. It all begins with the initial identification:

Then, he runs to the target:

And proudly returns after a successful find:

Then he starts over, pointing out the next object:

A Leafy Fall Walk

We went for a walk at the Fore River Sanctuary in Portland. Phineas really likes exploring in the woods, May likes being off-leash, and we like watching both of them play!

Big Foot

Phin likes to wear Mom and Dad's shoes around. Here he is wearing Dad's slippers:

Fire trucks out front!

Apparently the school across the street had to call an ambulance today. It's rare but not unheard of, and this time the ambulance and fire truck only stayed for about 10 minutes. Not coincidently, those 10 minutes were the highlight of Phin's day. He's a big firetruck fan.

Looking back while making his "brrrrr" engine sound.

At one point, the engine noise got a little loud for Phin.

Climbing up on the railing to get a better view.

Playing in Dad's truck

Phineas loves playing in Dad's truck. He likes to make a "brrrrr" engine sound and play with the indicator stalks. Here are a couple pictures of him playing:

Riding May

Phin likes May. May likes Phin. Phin likes to climb aboard May and ride her; she's not so thrilled about it. But she's a good sport and puts up with the riding in exchange for some high chair handouts and a hug.

Phin also learned how to open May's food container, so now he slips her dog food when we're not looking.

Playing in the bath

Phin continues to enjoy his baths. His favorite thing to do right now is throw balls against the wall and try to catch them when they bounce back.

His hair, when wet, covers his top lip in the front! When it's not curled up, it's long!
