Tennis!

Here are some more pictures from Phineas' Saturday morning tennis!  As it gets warmer, we're getting closer to going outside and hitting balls with Dad.

First bike ride of Spring 2014

We took advantage of Saturday's beautiful weather to go on our first bike ride of the spring.  Juno was very excited to run along with us and Phineas didn't miss a beat on his bike.  Here are some pictures of the guy getting ready to go!

Meeting Phineas' Favorite Author!

Phineas' favorite author is Chris Van Dusen, the author and illustrator of many children's books including several on a theme about a man named Mr. Magee and his little dog Dee.  We have a few of his books and they are a staple of our nightly stories.  We learned that he was going to be signing books at a local book store so we went down to meet him.  Phineas really wanted a specific Mr. Magee tale but they had just sold their last copy.  No worries though - Mr. Van Dusen had a copy for Phineas delivered from his house!  Wow!

After meeting and briefly chatting (Phineas told him his favorite stories and gave him a suggestion for a future book), we went to a local joint for a cookie treat and first read.  It was a very fun morning!

Maine Maple Sunday

This year for Maine Maple Sunday we went to Sparky's Apiaries in Hope. Phineas liked walking up the long, muddy driveway to the sugar house and looking at the tractor. He also quickly spotted the flatbed truck they had with a container of sap on the back waiting to be boiled down into maple syrup. Mom and Dad both enjoyed a sample of vanilla ice cream with maple syrup drizzled on top, but Phineas turned it down and played in the mud instead!

Spruce Mountain in February

Oma and Aunt Julie came up for a quick visit last weekend.  Saturday was a wonderful warm February day, with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 40s.  We decided to head up to one of Phineas's favorite places - Spruce Mountain - for a winter hike.  It was a lot of fun!

Workin' Hard

Phineas hasn't been feeling so well this week so he can't go to preschool.  Instead he's been staying home with mom or dad, depending on their schedules.  Twice he's even gotten to go to work with Dad!  Here are some pictures of Phineas making himself at home at Dad's desk.

Lego vehicle creation

Phineas got a Lego mystery minifig recently, which is where you buy a bag that contains a minifig but you don't know what you're getting until you open it.  He got a wild post-apocalyptic wild west robot man, so he built a rig to match it!

Beech Hill (again!)

It was a warm February first so we decided to go for a quick hike up Beech Hill in Rockport.  It's not the first time we've been there, and it's always a fun hike because it's short, easy, and has beautiful views from the top.  Of course, like usual, Phineas likes to pretend we're all brush rigs (off road fire trucks)--this trip became even more exciting when he spotted smoke coming from the woods to the west!
